Currys PC World store supports Frizinghall community group

Deputy Manager Mark of Currys PC World gives away an electronic mixer

A Bradford-based community group that consists of over 30 women and children has been supported by Bradford’s Currys PC World store, which is donating a monthly prize to competition winners.

The Zaika Group, formed by a group of Frizinghall residents including Sajid Mahmood and Associated Waste Management (AWM), recently held a competition for the Best Dish and participants were given a budget to create their signature recipe.

After the winning dishes were chosen, the winner won an electric mixer with the runner-up walking away with electronic jug scales, courtesy of Currys PC World.

Zaika Group’s spokesperson said: “We’re proud of the success that Zaika has achieved and to have Currys PC World onboard is excellent. At times of such austerity it’s important for any neighbourhood to accept every element of the community.

“AWM fund the project with lots of organisational help from residents and now an additional corporate sponsor means that we can really take this group forward.”

The Zaika Group was set up to encourage community engagement and interaction, working to combat isolation and socially-related problems.

It’s members meet at the Frizinghall Community Centre every Tuesday.
