Hundreds of food fans have flocked to Bingley’s Town Square for the first day of a food and drink festival.

Held today, visitors got the chance to soak up the sun and taste delights at stalls offering cheese, chillies, pickles, chutneys, jam, pies, and even buffalo burgers.

Jamie’s Ministry of Food held cooking demonstrations and Yorkshire-based eateries such as the Spanish restaurant El Caballo Blanco and the Little Yorkshire Pie Company were busy serving up delicacies.

The Library Tap pub also put up a beer tent, which has a programme of live music to keep people entertained over the whole weekend.

The three-day festival comes on the back of the successful ‘Taste of Yorkshire and Beyond Festival’ that was held last year.

Bradford Council’s Town Centre Manager for Bingley, Bob Parker, said: “Bingley has always had a good reputation for good quality food and drink and we hope that this great event will help to showcase what the town has to offer.”

The food and drink festival will run tomorrow from 9am until 5pm and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
