Three farms in county are supplying crop for the shop

Crop For The Shop

Fresh suppliers are connected with independent retailers

A nationwide campaign aiming to connect fruit and vegetable growers with retailers has been backed by three food farms and suppliers in the county.

The Incredible Farm in Todmorden, The Far Barsey Farm Shop in Halifax, and the Keelham Farm Shop in Bradford, are leading the way for West Yorkshire by taking part in the Crop for the Shop campaign.

Launched just last month, over 250 retailers nationwide have signed up to the campaign, which aims to connect fresh suppliers with independent retailers to offer a point of difference from the supermarkets.

Anthony Davison, who launched the campaign, said: “At the moment it is all about spreading the word, but we have big plans for Crop for the Shop.

“We want as many shops involved as possible and for growers, big or small, to truly see the value of the crops they are producing not only on their own dinner tables, but on dinner tables throughout their community.”

The next stage of the campaign is to have packets of seeds distributed to schools and parents, as well as local shops so they can hand out to their customers.
