Autoelectro, the UK’s largest independent remanufacturer and supplier of starter motors and alternators, is to sponsor this year’s Bradford Classic & Performance car show.

The Bradford-based company has made the commitment as part of a strategy to increase the company’s profile in the automotive aftermarket throughout Yorkshire.

Managing director Tony Bhogal said: “Heritage is very important in our market and this event will help us to enhance our profile amongst car parts retailers and suppliers.”

To celebrate the sponsorship deal, Mr Bhogal and his two brothers Nicky and Paul, came to City Park with two prestigious motors – a 1978 Mark II Ford Escort rally car and a 1969 Camero Z28 – which gained a lot of interest from the public.

Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, Portfolio Holder for Employment, Skills and Culture, said: “There were hundreds of people around to see the cars and taking pictures. They created so much interest and I can see in August, there will be a huge amount of people here.

“I believe we’re going to have a very successful event on our hands in August.”

With the show coming closer, hopes are high for this year’s event and unlike last year’s, it won’t be held over a two-day period through the weekend.

Rather, it will be held on one day.

Car owners wishing to take part are being urged to register their interest as soon as possible, as spaces are limited.

Further information can be obtained by emailing Haley Torok on haley.torok@bradford.gov.uk.

The Bradford Classic and Performance car show will be held in Bradford’s City Park on 16 August.
