Police appeal after cyclist ‘punched’ in the face following Range Rover collision

Police in Halifax, West Yorkshire, are appealing for the female driver of a turquoise Toyota Rav 4 to come forward as a witness to an assault.

Officers want to speak to her as a witness after she came to the aid of a 24-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted on Solstice Way, Ovenden, at 3.38pm on 22 January.

The incident happened after the driver of a dark Range Rover was in collision with the victim who had been cycling.

Although the collision did not cause any injury to the victim, the victim was punched by the suspect who drove off, leaving him with facial injuries.

“We are investigating this offence”

PC Sarah Hanson of the Neighbourhood Investigation Unit, said: “We are investigating this offence, which officers believe was targeted, and are appealing for any witnesses.

“We would particularly like to speak to the driver of a turquoise coloured Toyota Rav 4 who stopped to help the victim.

“This lady or anybody who has information should contact the Halifax Neighbourhood Investigation Unit on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
