A couple from Brighouse will be hosting their very first baby walk in an effort to help parents and their children get together, socialise and have fun.

With all proceedings going towards local mental health charity Healthy Minds Calderdale, parents and their children will take part in a 2.3 mile gentle walk along the estate track of Hardcastle Crag’s in Hebden Bridge on 10 May.

Mia Marsh, a mother and founder of event planning service Life’s An Event, told the Yorkshire Standard: “I feel as though there’s not much done for post-natal depression, and I know a lot of people who have gone through it.

“There’s a lot of stigma attached to it and people can isolate themselves, so the charity baby walk will help people overcome it, or get out with the little one, socialise and even talk to others who may be in a similar situation.”

Sponsored by Uxbridge-based Allied Office Furniture, the walk will be open to children in a pram or those who can walk. Those without children are also encouraged to take part.

Dogs are also allowed, but need to be on their leads at all times.

Mia and her husband Paul, will also be hosting a baby and toddler show named Bump2Tot on the 8 June at Brighouse High School, held for parents, and parents-to-be.

It will allow people to purchase products for their youngsters, and to receive essential advice such as breast-feeding and first aid. A baby photographer and various clothes boutiques will also be present, and 3D clay-modelling sessions will be held for children.

Mrs Marsh said: “When you have a baby, you tend to get leaflets thrown at you.

“The baby and toddler show will be the perfect place for us to showcase everything available to parents and parents-to-be including help and advice.”
