‘Confused’ patient goes missing from Leeds hospital

Police in Leeds are urgently appealing for information to trace a 66-year-old man who has gone missing from hospital.

William Sutherland, went missing from St James’s Hospital at about 8am this morning.

Detective Inspector Dave Austin, of Leeds District CID, said: “Mr Sutherland was receiving treatment prior to an operation and also has a medical condition that makes him very confused. We are very concerned for his welfare and would urgently like to hear from anyone who has seen him.

“The last sighting we have of him was at about 10.30am this morning at Leeds train station.”

He is described as white and stocky with grey hair. He was wearing a blue suit and a shirt.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact CID at Elland Road via 101 quoting log number 285 of 7 April.

UPDATE: Mr Sutherland has been found safe and well.
