Golf ball sized hail puts holes through conservatory in Halifax
EXCLUSIVE: A conservatory in Halifax had around 25 holes through its roof following the downpour of hailstones last night.
The owner of the conservatory, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she will now have to pay over £1,000 for a new roof.
She said: “There’s roughly 25 holes because of the hailstones and I’m not in a position to be able to claim. I’m gutted.
“There are three layers to my conservatory roof and it’s looking like the hail has gone through two layers. £1,500 for a new roof.”
It hailed for around 10 minutes between 11pm to 12am.
Over 19,500 lightning strikes were recorded across the UK in 34 hours, the Met Office said.
Severe weather warning has been issued for isolated heavy and possibly severe thunderstorms to develop Friday evening.
