EXCLUSIVE: A couple from Bradford claim to have been the victim of abuse from a woman walking up the street, who branded them as “terrorists” and told them to get out of the country.

The incident took place in the BD9 area on 11 January at around 10am in the morning.

The Yorkshire Standard was given details of this story by the couple’s son, Saif Hussain.

He said: “The elderly woman was repeatedly talking to herself and saying ‘these terrorists in our country shouldn’t be here, this country is mine, they have no right to live here.’

“My mum looked at her and she said ‘yes, you, you terrorists, get out of my country.’”

The couple ignored the woman and went into their car.

They did not report the incident.

Saif believes the abuse his parents received might have been triggered by the terrorist attacks that took place in France on 7 January.

Masked gunmen killed 12 people after they stormed the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which has been targeted in the past over its cartoons of the Islamic Prophet Muhammed.

Saif said: “The recent attacks in Paris may have triggered what she said. But my parents were upset about what they heard.

“Muslims will be bullied and mocked continuously but we should get together and show the world that we are not terrorists and that we are very humble human beings.”
