Ripponden Community Market wins prestigious award

Ripponden Markets Award

Ripponden Community Market has been awarded Best Local Council Market in this year’s National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) awards.

In what was a closely contested category, NABMA acknowledged the efforts of Ripponden Parish Council, highlighting how it was through the efforts of the community that made the market a worthy winner of the award.

The community market was created in 2012 in an effort to support local business and enterprise, as well as increasing footfall to the village and surrounding areas.

The first market had only eight stalls, and now has over 12, selling everything from locally produced fashion accessories and decorations to foods, cards and gifts.

Plans are now under way for the next market, which will be held on Sunday 30 March.
