Top talent producers have visited the town of Huddersfield to offer advice and insight to young people pursuing careers in entertainment.

Youth project somewhereto_, the Proper Job Theatre Company, and in association with SYCO Entertainment, delivered workshops inside the Piazza Centre to help young people develop key industry skills.

Local people aged between 16 and 25 were invited to sign up to the workshop for free and then perform in front of professional talent scouts.

Linda Horsburgh, regional delivery partner for somewhereto_ in Huddersfield, said: “This was an absolutely incredible opportunity for young people across the region to get their work heard by industry professionals.

“We put out a call to local musicians and performers to come and perform and get feedback to help kickstar their careers.”

somewhereto_ is a youth project delivered by Livity and funded by a £7m grant from the Big Lottery Fund to support its nationwide expansion to 2016.

It helps 16 to 25-year-olds access free spaces in their communities, to launch and develop creative and enterprising projects.

More photographs of the first workshop were taken by our photographer/reporter, including individual photos of the performers. They will be available to view and buy here.
