Teen arrested after 12-year-old found seriously injured on field in Leeds

A boy was found seriously injured on playing fields last night and had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance.

At 9.12pm, police were contacted by the ambulance service who were attending a report of a boy who had been found on the playing fields off Butt Lane, Farnley.

The 12-year-old was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he is currently undergoing treatment for head and facial injuries, which are serious but are not considered life threatening.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently in custody.

“Enquiries are ongoing”

Detective Chief Inspector Lisa Atkinson, Head of Leeds District Reactive CID, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation.

“The scene of the incident, which is near to the junction with Stonecliffe Drive, is currently being examined and enquiries are ongoing.”
