UPDATE: Second man arrested following Leeds Road mobile scooter death

Police investigating the death of a 70-year-old man who was struck by a car while crossing Leeds Road on Friday have arrested a second man.

The 21-year-old from Bradford was arrested yesterday afternoon on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to report a road traffic collision.

The collision, which involved a car and a mobility scooter, occurred at around 12.40pm on 20 February, close to the junction of Thornbury Avenue.

The male rider of the mobility scooter was struck by a black coloured Seat Leon Cupra vehicle, which was travelling in the direction of Thornbury and suffered serious injuries.

He died at the scene.

The two male occupants of the Seat Leon are believed to have run off.

The 21-year-old is currently in custody and enquiries are continuing.

A 34-year-old man from Bradford was arrested on 21 February in connection with the investigation and has since been released on bail.
