Van carrying fake hollow TVs caught in Bradford

Fake TV Van Bradford

Two men from Wakefield and Berkshire have been caught with a number of hollow televisions in the back of their van.

Police officers stopped the van in Forster Square, Bradford, and following an examination of the vehicle’s contents, the men were arrested on suspicion of fraud offences and their vehicle was also seized.

Police are now appealing for any victims who may have unwittingly bought a fake hollow television to come forward and contact officers.

Detective Constable Nicola Thomson, from the Kirklees District Police, said: “I believe that a number of people may have been attracted by the offer of a seemingly new television at a cut price cost only to discover the offer was not as it initially appeared.

“I want to hear from those people as their information could play a pivotal part in this investigation.

“We believe these televisions have been offered to people in supermarket and retail unit car parks across West Yorkshire.”

Both men, who were aged 23 and 30, have been released on police bail while the investigation continues.

Anyone with information can contact Kirklees District CATO via 101 and quoting crime reference number 13140449499. They can also call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
