West Yorkshire burglars warned: ‘Commit crime and yule be sorry’

West Yorkshire Police Viper CardsProlific burglars in West Yorkshire will receive their very own cards this Christmas, reminding them it’s not just Father Christmas who is watching people on the naughty list.

Officers will visit known criminals in each district to let them know that if they break the law over the festive season they risk spending Christmas or the New Year in jail.

The cards will be hand-delivered with the reminder to criminals that they are being watched and will face the consequences if they continue their life of crime.

Teams will also pay regular ‘disruption visits’ to those offenders to keep them in check throughout the month and collect intelligence on their movements.

The burglary crackdown is an operation under West Yorkshire Police’s Operation Viper which targets and restricts the illegal activity of the county’s most prolific criminals.

Superintendent Pat Casserly, who leads the operation, said: “This Christmas we are taking the fight back to some of West Yorkshire’s most prolific offenders and warning them once again that we know where they are and what they are up to.

“These cards make it crystal clear that we are watching them and are ready to take swift and robust action if they commit crimes this Christmas.”
