The incident took place when the victim was walking along Kirkstall Lane towards Headingley at about 3.25pm yesterday.

She had just passed the crossroads with Kirkstall Hill when she noticed a red off-road motorbike parked outside the shops with two white males in their late teens on it.

As she continued walking the bike approached her from behind and the pillion passenger grabbed her handbag.

She was then dragged down the road and received bruising and scratches. The male let go of the bag and the bike sped off.

“This was a very distressing incident for the victim”

Detective Sergeant Chris Craven, of Leeds District Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim who could easily have been more seriously injured. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who thinks they know who the suspects might be that are using a red off-road motorbike.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DS Craven at Weetwood Police Station via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
