Police Tape

A woman living in Dewsbury has had to have surgery after receiving slashing type injuries in her own home.

Four men, believed to have been armed with a knife, broke in to a home on Scarborough Street, Dewsbury, on 26 March.

Police attended the scene at around 4pm following reports of a robbery.

Made demands for property and cash

Detective Sergeant Adrian Bell, from Kirklees District CID, said: “Four men armed with what is believed to have been a knife entered the property and made demands for property and cash. They took a small amount of personal property and left in an unknown direction.

“A woman aged in her thirties sustained slashing type injures to her hand which requires surgery.

“I’m appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything unusual to contact police.”

The Yorkshire Standard received texts shortly after the incident took place, which were circulated by local residents who were warning others to be careful.

It said that the woman had “lost a lot of blood” and the burglars “hit her child” too.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kirklees District CID on 101 and quoting crime reference number 1041 from 26 March.
