A fundraising event held in Bradford has raised over £30,000 for Palestine.

Organised by Sham Lyn from Huddersfield and Rehana Khan from Bradford, the duo held a fundraiser at The Venue, Sunbridge Road, in a bid to help rebuild war-torn areas of Palestine.

The event hosted special guest appearances from journalist Yvonne Ridley and London-based artist Logic, a three-course meal, self-defence demonstrations led by martial artist Nisar Smiler, a charity auction and a raffle.

A total of £31,000 was raised on the night, and all proceedings will go towards the Interpal charity.

Co-organiser of the event, Sham Lyn, said: “I have my very own charity which is for acid and burn victims in Pakistan and I’m also an activist for Palestine so me and my friend Rehana Khan decided to raise funds for Palestine.

“The amount didn’t suprise me because everyone around the world is horrified by what is happening, the devastation of the war and after-effects of the war so we were looking at large amounts to be raised.

“Hopefully there will be more events organised.”
