Yorkshire encouraged to make this year’s Movember hairiest one yet

Movember

Around 20,000 people in Yorkshire took part in the annual Movember event last year, and this year’s event may well be the hairiest one yet.

Global organisation Movember Foundation is encouraging men to grow their moustache, whether it’s a Tom Selleck tuft or a Hulk Hogan handlebar, to help raise awareness and funds to improving the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems.

During Movember, men register to the event, start November clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for 30 days raising funds along the way.

Women also take part without growing a moustache by registering, recruiting the men in their lives to participate, fundraise and participate in events.

Sarah Coghlan, UK country director for Movember, said: “Our vision is to have an everlasting impact on men’s health, and the Movember moustache puts a fun twist on this serious issue. We encourage Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to sign up at Movember.com, grow and support awesome moustaches, and raise crucial awareness and funds to address the most pressing issues in prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.

“We look forward to seeing Mo Bros and Mo Sistas across Yorkshire getting involved, and making it the hairiest Movember yet.”

Ever since the event began, over four million moustaches have been grown worldwide and over £345 million has been raised.
