Brazil’s 2014 mascot Fuleco the Armadillo, has visited Leeds and Kirklees as part of a nationwide tour to get excitement building for this year’s FIFA World Cup.

Stopping off in West Yorkshire as part of the ‘Road to Rio’ roadshow, people have been able to meet the mascot as well as sending the England team a message via a unique photo booth.

People have also tested their goal scoring prowess to win official FIFA World Cup merchandise and also had the chance to win a pair of tickets to the final.

Sponsored by Continental Tyres, the roadshow has visited children at the St James’s University Hospital, before stopping off at Leeds University and the Elland Road football stadium.

In the Kirklees region, Fuleco visited Elland at Micheldever Tyre Services and the West Riding Girls Football League in Mirfield.

The roadshow was launched in Liverpool earlier this month by former Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler, who scored nearly 200 goals in his club and international career and also played for England at the 2002 World Cup.

He said: “It is great that Continental are doing this, it can really unite everyone to get behind our boys, sending them messages of support and letting everyone feel they can be part of the team.”

The FIFA World Cup 2014 will officially begin on 12 June.
