VIDEO: Doctors find over 100 maggots living inside man’s nose
Doctors have uncovered over 100 flesh-eating maggots inside the nose of a man in Brazil.
The man was suffering from nasal myasis – where the nose and sinuses become infested with the larvae of flies.
The wriggling creatures were found after doctors inserted a camera inside the 65-year-old’s nasal cavity.
According to the New England Journal of Medicine, the maggots were identified as a species of parasitic fly named Cochliomyia hominivorax.
They have the ability to feed off flesh.

Two days before presentation, the Brazilian had seen worms emerging from his nostril.
He also reported having a continuous ache on the left side of his nose, along with difficulty breathing and a foul smell.
It took four days to treat the nasal myiasis with local application of saline solution and daily removal of larvae, guided with the use of nasal endoscopy.
