MPs would be sacked from any other job for this

I was just watching the news and the debate on MPs having second jobs in addition to earning £65k as an MP.

Houses Of Parliament

Their excuses are that they have lots of spare time. To me this means they aren’t doing their jobs properly then. They should turn up to ALL parliament sessions and attend ALL votes.

They should also follow up with constituents and visit them at home etc. to understand their lives. They should knock on doors and speak to constituents all year round to find out what concerns are in their area.

Someone working for a company who had too much free time would be sacked for not FINDING more work to do.

The second excuse is that they need to escape the Westminster bubble and have a change of scene.

How about they do what the unemployed are being forced to do for £3,900 a year not £65,000 – which is voluntary work. Then they would really understand the issues the majority of people face.

I can’t believe they even have the nerve to give these excuses.
