A family is appealing to the public for help in finding their parrot who went missing from his home in Heckmondwike.

Buddy Missing Parrot

Buddy can say “Asalamu alaikum”.

Buddy, an African grey parrot who has been with the family for four years, went missing yesterday on 21 June after venturing outside when he saw the house door open.

“Neighbours kids were screaming”

Tas Akhtar, one of the owners, said: “I opened his door and he flew on my shoulder but I didn’t realise the kids had the front door open. He flew in our driveway, I picked him up but he flew off again in the neighbour’s garden. He can’t fly far and fell on the floor.

“I ran and picked him up again and all the neighbours kids were screaming. He flew off again because we think he got scared.”

Buddy is grey with a red tail, has black eyes, and a black beak.

He can say “Asalaamu alaikum” and “Khudafiz”. He may also get distressed if someone he doesn’t know tries to handle him.

If you have seen Buddy, please email [email protected]. A small reward is being offered.
