Kickboxing kids kick their way to victory at Bradford tournament
Over 20 youngsters from Bradford have competed against eachother at a kickboxing tournament to develop their skills and win prestigious trophies.
Held today at Lapage Primary School located on Barkerend Road, youngsters went head-to-head in five individual categories, including a team competition, in front of family and friends.
The event saw boys and girls from the Azar Farooq Kickboxing Club separated into different categories according to their heights.
They then fought each other in a series of matches, with the ongoing support from martial arts instructor Azar Farooq Rehman and the attending audience.
Instructor Mr Rehman told the Yorkshire Standard: “It was a good event. A lot of children took part and there were lots of smiles on parents’ faces.
“I’d like to give thanks to our sponsors for the event Autoprestige, and Lapage Primary School for letting us host the event.”
Mr Rehman started running classes two years ago with funding from the Extended School’s Project to help young people in the area become more active.
