The Voice 2015: Meet the student from Leeds hoping to wow the judges
EXCLUSIVE: A singer/songwriter hailing from the city of Leeds is set to appear on The Voice this weekend.
Harris Hameed, a 17-year-old student who has just finished his GSCE’s, will attempt to impress the a-list judges on Saturday night’s show on BBC One.

Harris got into music at an early age, with his brother rapping and his dad singing Indian and Bollywood songs.
He spent a lot of time busking on the streets, and decided to audition for The Voice.
He said: “I’ve been busking around Leeds and Manchester over the past three years, because it’s quite an intimate thing. People see you on a personal level, rather than a platform level.
“I’m actually not into talent shows, and I believe in making it independently. But two of my friends applied to talent shows, and they got through, so I was interested in doing it.”
Harris went through rehearsals to finally perform in front of the superstar coaches will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Rita Ora and Ricky Wilson in September last year.
“If I had to cue for an hour I‘d leave”
He recounted: “Originally, in the first audition I went to Manchester at the Hilton Hotel. I went there with a mentality that if I had to cue for an hour I’d leave and I was missing busking. But I didn’t have to cue very long and got through.
“The overall experience makes you realise a lot about yourself.
“You’re also around a lot of industry professionals, so you have to keep yourself together in terms of nerves and attitude, which reflects your personality. I’m still getting over the fact millions watch the show.”
Early last year, Harris recorded an EP named ‘Paradise’.
Within the first 18 days of it being uploaded on Soundcloud it had been listened to over 2,000 times.
His latest EP is titled ‘Tailored Thoughts’.

The Voice UK will air this Saturday (7 February) on BBC One at 7.15pm.
