Folk award winners Lau heading to the Halifax Minster
Folk group Lau are to perform in candlelight inside the Halifax Minster later this month as part of the Halifax Festival.
Lau, crowned ‘Best Group’ in the 2013 BBC Radio Two Folk Awards, will perform a selection of their tracks in the landmark building on 27 June.
The group is an innovative live band on the burgeoning new-folk scene, combining musicianship with a sound that has attracted fans far beyond the traditional roots scene.
Composed of trio Kris Drever, Martin Green and Aidan O’Rourke, Lau has to date released three studio albums and a live album.
Assistant curate at the Halifax Minster, Revd Jonathan Bish, said: “We’re thrilled that the Minster will be the setting for this candlelight concert featuring this remarkable folk band.
“This promises to be an evening of stunning music that will resonate with music lovers everywhere, not just folk fans.”
