Police were called to Barkerend Road at 1.49am, but the occupants of the car had left the scene before the police had arrived.

A resident from the area, who requested to be anonymous, said: “Many people did hear a loud bang. People are sick of hearing about speeding or reckless drivers, people obviously don’t realise that people’s lives are at risk.”
